China releases national standard for green product evaluation of apparel and accessories made from leather and fur – GB/T 44838-2024.

On November 28, 2024, the State Administration for Market Regulation and the Standardization Administration of the People's Republic of China (PRC) issued GB/T 44838-2024: Green product assessment—Apparel and accessories for leather and fur, which will take effective on June 1, 2025.

The scope of this standard covers the green evaluation of various leather and fur clothing products, including leather garments, fur garments, double-face garments and their accessories (e.g. collars, shawls and scarves).

Assessment methods
There are two grades: green benchmark products and green products. The assessment is based on the degree of compliance with the basic requirements, assessment indicator requirements and recommendation requirements.
